Embera village tour

Visit the indigenous community Embera Drúa, by cruising the river in a piragua until reaching the deepest point of the Chagres National Park. We will meet the 7th native tribe of Panamá surrounded by the tropical jungle and unique biodiversity.

The river crossing is a beautiful experience, where you can appreciate the imposing jungle landscape and observe the local fauna.

Before arriving at the village, we will stop at the waterfall, Quebrada Bonita. A perfect spot to refresh yourself, have fun, swim, and relax.

After the first stop, we will arrive at the Embera Drúa Village. Receive a warm welcome from the indigenous community with traditional music on the banks of the river. Once out of the boat, you will be escorted to the center of the village where the head of the village will give you a welcome speech. At the village, you will get to intimately discover the treasures that the Embera community cherishes. You will learn their history, traditions, and interesting stories from them.

At lunchtime, a tropical and colorful feast will fulfill your taste and your stomach. Enjoy a freshly prepared meal and enjoy the beauty of it all.

Next, you will learn the wonders of the local handicrafts.

If you want to have a deeper experience, you can have the opportunity to get dressed by the locals with their traditional and colorful garments. You will also have the opportunity to make bodypainting with Kipara- a plant-based ink from the jaguar fruit, traditionally used by the Embera.

After that, let yourself be amazed by the local rhythm, songs, and dance. You will have the unique opportunity to learn the dance with locals guided by the melody from the Chimbonbón.

Next, you will have time to connect with the locals, discover the botanical garden guided by the healer, chat with the locals, and play with the local children in the river.

At any moment you have the opportunity to buy unique and authentic handicrafts.

Very good organization; always fast communication/response by Pablo/EcuaTraveling. The program took us to places and people we would not have selected/visited and that made it unique. The acclimatization tour @ Iliniza Norte was a great choice!

We had a great experience with our tour guide Stui! He told us so much about the volcanos, the history and people of the region! We enjoyed the tour because we got to taste Bizcochos at the place where they are made, we went to Lago de San Pablo, the Otavalo market, Cotacachi and hiked a bit in Cuicocha to see the beautiful lake! This experience was amazing, many thanks to our guide Stui, you are going a great job!!!
