Camino De Santiago Biking Adventure

Arrival in Madrid, at noon gather at the airport, and transfer to the hotel. We will have the afternoon free and will share dinner to get to know all the participants.

Gathering in the hotel lobby after breakfast to head to Chamartín station, where we will take a high-speed train from Madrid to León. There, we will receive the bikes to adjust them to our size and test them. They need to be perfect for the next day. In the afternoon, we will have time to take a stroll through the city and explore its monuments.

This stage will be on flat terrain before entering the mountains that will take us to El Bierzo, a valley of vineyards. We will cross a Roman bridge with 20 arches, and next to it, we will have our supply point. Then, the paths will be winding, with some slopes, but nothing we can't easily handle. In the afternoon, before lunch, we will contemplate the Episcopal Palace of Gaudí and other works of art in Astorga.

The mountain stage begins after about 10 km of flat terrain to warm up. We will start the ascent to the mountain pass of Cruz de Ferro, where we will perform a ritual offering. Then, a fantastic 14 km descent will take us to Ponferrada and its Templar castle. The supply point will be next to the Molinaseca river, and if the weather is good, we will swim in its waters.

Today, we will finish at a challenging mountain pass, and there the stage will end, allowing us to enjoy a pre-Romanesque village, O Cebreiro. The stage will pass through the Vega del Valcarce river, among vineyards, cherry trees, and chestnuts. We will enter Galicia. And we have a special surprise for everyone... a day to remember forever.

We will descend from the mountain right at the beginning of the stage, and the landscape will change completely; we will contemplate the impressive monastery of Samos in the middle of a beautiful valley. We will pass through Sarria, a city where pilgrims start walking, and reach the 100 km mark. We are getting closer to Santiago. We will finish in Portomarín and its fortified church.

A stage of continuous ups and downs; all day we will go between small streams and "corredoiras" (paths covered by tree branches). It will be a demanding stage because we are accumulating kilometers and days of pedaling, but we will have our reward. We will pass through Melide, the capital of octopus, and taste this delicacy.

Our bikes will fly; we know Santiago is near. We will have a challenging road of continuous ups and downs until we reach the last high point, the Alto de Lavacolla. Then, Monte do Gozo at the gates of Santiago, where we will regroup before entering the Obradoiro Square in Santiago together. Surely, some tears will appear on our faces. To conclude: Bike return, Hotel rest, Cathedral entrance (unmissable), and Farewell Dinner.
